Welcome to Lakeland Elementary School!
My name is Gretchen Baumgarn, and I am honored to serve as the principal of Lakeland Elementary. Our school is a special place because of the incredible students, dedicated staff, supportive families, and wonderful Willmar community that make up Lakeland.
At Lakeland, we believe every child deserves to feel known, valued, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential. We are committed to providing high-quality instruction, meaningful opportunities to learn and grow, and the support each student needs to be successful.
We also know that learning happens best when students feel a strong sense of belonging. We intentionally build relationships, celebrate student strengths, develop social-emotional skills, and create a school community where students feel safe, confident, and excited to learn.
Our goal is for every student to leave Lakeland as a strong learner, compassionate community member, and confident young person ready for what comes next.

Assistant Principal Rikka Williamson
My name is Rikka Williamson, and I am excited to begin my third year as an administrator at Lakeland Elementary. Before moving into administration, I had the opportunity to serve as both a classroom teacher and Instructional Coach in the Alexandria and Willmar school districts. These experiences have shaped my passion for supporting students, staff, and families and creating a school environment where every student can learn, grow, and be successful.
I am proud to be part of the Lakeland community and to work alongside our dedicated staff each day. I look forward to continuing to build strong relationships with our students and families and making Lakeland a place where every student feels supported, challenged, and celebrated!
